Thank you very much for your responses. 

Unfortunately the url "http://<<server-ip-address>>/eg/opac/home"

still shows the following error:

"Not found
The requested URL /eg/opac/home was not found on this server."

Most likely this is an apache2 problem. 

I am going to do some more digging.
