The "a2ensite eg.conf" portion of step 7 is what I was thinking about for Ubuntu/Debian, at least. I believe Fedora you copy the files directly into an active include directory.
Disabling the default site would also apply.

I do not recall seeing any reference in the official documentation about enabling the evergreen site in apache.
I have followed these instructions regarding related to the configuration of the apache server:

Is there something more that needs to be done?
