[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] patron registration - date of birth

Good afternoon -

 

The staff at my library are working through a patron registration exercise.
More than one person has asked why the birthdate needs to be entered
yyyy-mm-dd, a format not widely used in the USA. How should I answer that
question?
