I did a couple of test loads with one record, and succeeded. Fingers crossed, I'm trying to load a larger file to our test server. Thanks for the advice. Mary On Fri, Apr 11, 2025 at 12:45 PM Morgan, Christine <cmorgan@noblenet.org> wrote:
Hi Mary,
We currently load hoopla records with up to 14 856 fields. Not all of our libraries subscribe to hoopla. Each library that does subscribe has their own ID. One library is set as the lead library on the Midwest side for record delivery purposes. The records have always loaded, though quite slowly because of the multiple links, but they have loaded. Loading that many links in a record also caused performance issues for our libraries. We implemented Queued Ingest to help with the performance issues and that has worked well for us.
Example of our links: =856 40$uhttps:// www.hoopladigital.com/title/17720725?utm_source=MARC&Lid=001778$yAccess for Danvers patrons via hoopla Digital$9DAN =856 40$uhttps:// www.hoopladigital.com/title/17720725?utm_source=MARC&Lid=000547$yAccess for Wakefield patrons via hoopla Digital$9WAK =856 40$uhttps:// www.hoopladigital.com/title/17720725?utm_source=MARC&Lid=001768$yAccess for Lynnfield patrons via hoopla Digital$9LFD =856 40$uhttps:// www.hoopladigital.com/title/17720725?utm_source=MARC&Lid=002053$yAccess for Reading patrons via hoopla Digital$9RDG =856 40$uhttps:// www.hoopladigital.com/title/17720725?utm_source=MARC&Lid=002658$yAccess for Marblehead patrons via hoopla Digital$9MAR =856 40$uhttps:// www.hoopladigital.com/title/17720725?utm_source=MARC&Lid=001201$yAccess for Peabody patrons via hoopla Digital$9PEABODY =856 40$uhttps:// www.hoopladigital.com/title/17720725?utm_source=MARC&Lid=001963$yAccess for Gloucester patrons via hoopla Digital$9GLO =856 40$uhttps:// www.hoopladigital.com/title/17720725?utm_source=MARC&Lid=002189$yAccess for Beverly patrons via hoopla Digital$9BEVERLY =856 40$uhttps:// www.hoopladigital.com/title/17720725?utm_source=MARC&Lid=002504$yAccess for Melrose patrons via hoopla Digital$9MEL =856 40$uhttps:// www.hoopladigital.com/title/17720725?utm_source=MARC&Lid=004349$yAccess for Swampscott patrons via hoopla Digital$9SWA =856 40$uhttps:// www.hoopladigital.com/title/17720725?utm_source=MARC&Lid=002957$yAccess for Revere patrons via hoopla Digital$9REV =856 40$uhttps:// www.hoopladigital.com/title/17720725?utm_source=MARC&Lid=001348$yAccess for Saugus patrons via hoopla Digital$9SAU =856 40$uhttps:// www.hoopladigital.com/title/17720725?utm_source=MARC&Lid=001777$yAccess for Stoneham patrons via hoopla Digital$9STO

Hi all,
Does anyone load Hoopla records to their catalog? It looks like we'll be doing that for a while, but I've run into a problem loading the records via the client.
We just made a change with Hoopla in the 856 tag configuration. Instead of one URL with a string of $9 subfields with all the subscribing libraries, we decided to have multiple 856s, one for each library.
Example: =856 40$uhttps:// www.hoopladigital.com/title/16127217?utm_source=MARC&Lid=hh2837$yInstantly available on hoopla. They don't load, however, and I wonder if it's because 856$u is identical on each line. (we've been changing $x to $y to allow the message to display. It's never been a problem.)
I was very much looking forward to the new format, thinking it will make management much easier as libraries add and drop their subscriptions. This recent setback has been disheartening.
We don't have any plans to move to Aspen.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Mary
