I have seen a couple of bugs on Launchpad lately with comments to the effect of "I'm from the contributor's org, so I can't give an official sign-off."

Yes, you can give an official signoff on work done by someone else at your organization and for work that your organization has paid for.

There's an understanding in the community that we all contribute as individuals and not as institutions, so it's perfectly fine to signoff on anyone else's work regardless of where they work.

You might impose such a limit on yourself, but that's entirely up to you. No one from the community is policing that.

I just wanted to clear up any lingering misunderstanding of the "rules."
