Because I know not everyone subscribes to every new bug or comment in Launchpad I wanted to mention bug 2115348 here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/2115348 which is about either removing the example reporter extensions from the IDL or including them in the stock install (I think my preference is pretty clear) since on a fresh installation the reporting sources exist but don't work. I'm hoping everyone that wants to share an opinion has a LaunchPad account, but if not, LP and email is better than only some feedback. 2025/2026 Acq Interest Group meetings

Good morning, In coordination with the other interest group leaders, and following the preferences in the survey sent to the acquisitions listserv after the conference, the Acquisitions Interest Group will be moving to meet on a (roughly) quarterly schedule. Library Card Printers?

Hello, Has anyone explored printing library cards in house? We are looking into building access control system and were looking at the idea of printing combination name-tags/access badges. And the vendor mentioned that they also have basic "Non technology" stock for the same printers that might work for library cards. Which started us thinking about the various possibilities that might open up. - Easy to create small batches of custom designed / limited edition cards. - Ability to replace cards with the same barcode. - Include patron name on the card itself. - Patron type specific card designs. We are currently looking at HID Fargo Direct-to-Card printers. And the blank stock isn't all that expensive at $.20 a card. I don't know how the software works to know if batch printing a few hundred cards based off of exported data is easy to do. I'm just curious if anyone else has looked into this? Internal Evergreen traffic question

Greetings. We've been slammed by bot traffic and had to take counter measures. We geoblocked international traffic at the host firewall level, and recently added a nginx bot blocker for bots based on servers in the US and Canada. I then scraped bot IPs out of the apache logs and began adding the IPs that were still coming through. Yes, I've updated the robots.txt file- they're ignoring it. The issue is that after a day or two of reprieve, we started getting a ton of 404's with loopback addresses. I've reverted the blacklist config file back to blank, and restarted all services on all servers. We're still getting a ton of traffic that appears to be internally generated. I don't see anything obvious within crontab. Since it appears to be internally generated, the opac stays up longer than it normally would with the number of sessions on the load balancer. Is there an Evergreen or Apache service that indexes the entire catalog? We have our external IP whitelisted. Do internal vlan IP addresses need whitelisted? Here's an example of the traffic I'm seeing. How long does a hold stay with a patrons local library before Evergreen will move on to another library? This is also if our local copy is available but the list has not been checked and pulled.
