It’s another month and therefore another outreach update. Linda Jansova
was July’s Community Spotlight and internal to Outreach we were really
happy to be able to spotlight someone who has done so much in the
international community. A press release for 3.5 went out last month and
more social media is going out thanks to the 3.6 team’s posts on the web
site. Ron always welcomes more press release ideas so if your institution
is doing something Evergreen related of note let us know.

We are looking forward to board feedback about the possibility of future
online events. We are very interested in pursuing something but I know the
board wanted to discuss it internally, including in terms of possibly
picking up a video conferencing option for community use.

We are going to be starting up the annual report planning in October but
this year faces a new challenge. I always encourage community photos but
use those from in-person events for the bulk. We won’t have any this
year. So, I’m beating the drum early. I’d especially like to see photos
of libraries doing things during these times whether it’s in-person service
you’ve maintained, doing curbside service, rearranging shelving, staff
doing online storytime, and so on. I’m going to echo this on the general
listserv as well and via social media.

The Outreach Committee has also decided to tackle under its communication
umbrella cleaning up the WIKI. We have one volunteer and I will be beating
the drum for more soon. Especially for those who are interested in
community participation but aren’t sure where to start, I think it’s a
great opportunity.
