Hi all,
Barring a spurt of productivity in the next hour, I will be unable to
attend the TEP Board meeting today. Here is my report from the Membership
Model Committee, which includes a request for direction from the Board.
The Membership Model Investigation Subcommittee met on February 21 to
discuss benefits that should be available to project members. There was
consensus around including credit on the web site and other project
materials (e.g. the annual report), a badge the can be posted on the
member's web site, discounted conference registrations, and eligibility to
run for the project board. We also had a discussion with Donald Moses from
the Islandora project about their model. One thing we like about their
model is it provides an opportunity for active contributors to become
members if they cannot afford a monetary contribution.
We do not have our next meeting scheduled. The topic for our next meeting
is to try to match those benefits with a pricing model. Before we meet, I
think the committee could use some direction from the Board as to what our
target revenue should be in the first year. Now that we've had the
strategic planning retreat, my hope is the Board may have a clearer idea of
what our funding goals may be.
