Galen and I put our heads together to brainstorm some ideas for what we
might want to discuss at this afternoon's meeting; Ben Hyman dropped in
as well.
I should also note that during a quick discussion with Elizabeth, Stephen
Elfstrand and Bradley Kuhn we thought we should be open to others
observing our meeting for the sake of transparency and openness, but
would be able to go in-camera if we needed to discuss any sensitive
matters.
So... a summary of ideas that we floated for discussion:
* Increasing fund raising opportunities
* Appoint someone(s) to work with the SFC to create branded materials
for advocacy / outreach (stickers) & fund-raising (shirts, hats,
pant suits)
* Formally create a membership & elections committee
* Formally create a nominating committee
* Extend the deadline for promulgating rules for voting membership and
Board member elections to the end of the Evergreen 2013 conference
* Give incoming members the ability to introduce themselves and their
aspirations on Saturday morning
* Board officer elections - to be held at the first meeting after the
conference?
* Ways to spend money and / or projects for the coming year, beyond the
annual conference:
** Investigate possibility of hiring a body through SFC - primarily a
funding issue
*** A Debian Developer for packaging and maintaining Evergreen
*** QA manager
*** UI specialist
*** Someone to upgrade dependencies (e.g. stale version of CDBI)
** Sponsor students to attend EG conference
** Collaborative funding for development projects
** Increase the percentage we give to the SFC
** Testing server infrastructure
* Create a quick'n'dirty five-point strategic plan that we can report
back on next year
