Thanks Lori,

I think that this is an awesome program but I am not sure we can afford it yet? That said, part of my day job is the web development for a COUNCIL.CIO.COM initiative called "Executive Women in IT" and I have brought this information to thier attention. Perhaps they can generate more interest, and dollars, for the Gnome Women given their global reach?

We could also take a closer look at how their mentoring program works and if we can learn from it.

Hi All,

I'd like to propose that we find a way to contribute $5,000 to this initiative. As a woman-dominated profession, I think it is important that we facilitate the growth of women developers of Evergreen. The first question is whether there is a developer who is willing to do the mentoring? The second question is how do we come up with the money. I propose we contribute some from our tiny account and seek donations for the rest from some of our vendor partners and perhaps some of the libraries themselves.

 Hello, all: 

 As some of you may recall, Conservancy is supporting the Outreach Program For Women (https://live.gnome.org/GnomeWomen/OutreachProgram2012), a GNOME Foundation-initiated program that provides internships for women interested in FOSS. This past summer, Twisted sponsored an internship. 

 The Outreach Program for Women is in the process of organizing a series of "Winter" internships for early 2013. Conservancy would like to invite our member projects to participate by sponsoring an intern. Sponsorships cost $5,000 (paid as a stipend to the intern); in addition, projects are to designate a mentor to volunteer his/her time to mentor the intern. So, if anyone in your project is interested in serving as a mentor, and if your Project Leadership Committee is willing to allocate $5,000 from your project fund to support the program, please let me and Bradley know ASAP. Time is short, so if you're interested let us know and we'll provide you with more details. 

 This is a wonderful opportunity for member projects to support a program that will help grow the pool of prospective contributors to our FOSS communities. If you have any follow up questions, let us know. We hope to hear from you.
