Hi all,

What, if anything, do you think about the FAST subject headings (Faceted
Application of Subject Terminology)? Examples from one bib record (the
headings with subfield 2 with the term "fast"):

=650 \0$aMonkeys$vJuvenile fiction.

=650 \0$aPublic aquariums$vJuvenile fiction.

=650 \0$aMarine animals$vJuvenile fiction.

=650 \1$aMonkeys$vFiction.

=650 \1$aAquariums, Public$vFiction.

=650 \1$aMarine animals$vFiction.

=650 \7$aMarine animals.$2fast$0(OCoLC)fst01009386

=650 \7$aMonkeys.$2fast$0(OCoLC)fst01025486

=650 \7$aPublic aquariums.$2fast$0(OCoLC)fst01715633

=655 \7$aFiction.$2fast$0(OCoLC)fst01423787

=655 \7$aJuvenile works.$2fast$0(OCoLC)fst01411637

Do you keep them? Do you strip them? . We've been removing them before
loading the records, but should we? They seem to be redundant to the regular
LCSH in our current catalog, but is there development coming that will make
them more useful?

This is a description of what's going on:

Thanks for any insights about your approach to FAST.

Mary
