[Evergreen-catalogers] Transferring "Item only" to different bib record

Janet,

Transfer is persnickety now, I find. I can test it one time and it
transfers as expected, and the next time it doesn't. But, it depends on
what you mark for transfer and whether you select items or holdings for
transfer. If you are marking the library for transfer and there isn't the
same call number attached to the library, selecting transfer item will
transfer the item to that call number (I have had this consistently fail,
however. This morning it is working). If the call number you are
transferring differs, it will transfer the call number and the item.

I think you are safer, and get a more consistent transfer, if you keep in
mind what you are transferring, item or call number and item, and select
the appropriate place to transfer (library or call number). So if you want
to transfer a call number and item(s), select Transfer holdings after you
have marked the library as the destination. If you want to transfer an item
to a call number, select the call number as the destination. And make sure
you have selected the item or the call number to be transfered.

I have some extensive directions, that I thought were up to date; but, this
morning I could transfer an item to a library with no existing call number
without any problem, so the direction to create an empty call number would
only be correct under a very narrow circumstance where you wanted the call
number you were transferring to the destination record was the same in both
places but you wanted it to differ after transfer.

For what they are worth now, my instructions are here --
