[Evergreen-general] Cancellation of the 2021 Evergreen Indiana Conference

It is with great regret that I inform you that on careful review of the current situation, notice of many ongoing travel restrictions into 2021, and to avoid impossibly high financial penalties if we wait, the Evergreen Project Board has voted to cancel the 2021 conference.

This was a very difficult decision as it comes with a heavy fiscal penalty for the project and is very disappointing for all who hoped to gather again next spring.  In fact it is impossible for the project to cover the cost of the cancellation with the current funds available.

We are asking that the community consider donating to the project so that we can cover the cost of the cancellation and incidentals while we get our feet back under us.  At this time, we need between $15,000-$20,000 to cover the cancellation and operating costs.  I will be reaching out to each of the consortia and major vendors for their assistance, but we welcome any support from the community.

Because we successfully completed our non-profit application, any personal donations are eligible for writing off of your taxes.  Multiple members of the board have already committed to contributing, and we are exceedingly grateful for your consideration.

If you wish to donate, we are actively setting up an online donation portal and should have that information to send out to the community in the next week.  If you wish to donate immediately, we can accept checks now.  Please contact Galen Charlton (gmc at equinoxinitiative.org) for the mailing address.
