Hi

Beaufort library is looking at doing the same. How do you handle returns and checking these off the Patron’s account.

We just installed a set of smart lockers for 24/7 Hold Pickups. The vendor we chose uses a SIP2 connection to interact with Evergreen which can be encrypted using tunneling.

In our case, patrons scan their library cards to open their assigned locker instead of using a code. Once the locker opens, the checkout is recorded in Evergreen through the SIP connection, and the record for that locker is cleared from the database residing on the kiosk computer built into the lockers.

  Hi All,

We're about to have a conversation with a company that offers pickup lockers as a service (something like curbside pickup but they send a code for patrons to use to unlock and retrieve their items outside of the building). The main focus of our discussion will be patron data extraction such as phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, etc.

Obviously, this is a privacy concern and we wanted to ask if other consortia/libraries have this experience. Do you have pickup lockers? Do you have some kind of policy in place with patron data extraction? Love to know your thoughts.
