[Evergreen-general] New Highlighting in Search Results in Staff Catalog

Good afternoon,

After upgrading to Evergreen version 3.11.1 this past weekend, we began to notice some additional highlighting in our search results when using the staff catalog (pictured below):

The yellow/orange highlighting seems relatively self-explanatory, as it only appears when your preferred search library owns no copies of a particular item. The blue highlighting, however, is a bit more elusive and esoteric.

Based on our test searches, the blue highlighting seems to appear when the following three criteria are met (from what we can tell, at any rate):

  1. There are copies available in the consortium (in this case, CARDINAL)
  2. There are copies owned by one or more branches of a library system (the library system to which your preferred branch belongs) but none are currently available, and
  3. There are no copies owned by the branch to which the search is scoped (your preferred branch)

So in the example pictured above, there are two copies currently available in CARDINAL. The Goldsboro branch of the Wayne County Public Library owns a copy, but it is not currently available. The Pikeville branch, to which the search is scoped, of the Wayne County Public Library does not own any copies. Thus the blue highlighting.

However, we have been unable to find any documentation on this anywhere, so I wanted to reach out to all of you to see if anyone might have some concrete information or documentation about this new feature. Are our parameters for finding a blue highlighted copy listing accurate? Or is there more at play behind-the-scenes than we are aware of?

Additionally, where in Evergreen does the configuration/s for this live, exactly? Since the yellow/orange highlighting appears when there are no copies owned by the library to which the search is scoped, we foresee this being a bit of a headache for electronic resources, since the e-resource records will not have any items attached to them for any libraries in the consortium. We realize there is always the option to check the Exclude Electronic Resources box, but knowing how to turn this highlighting on and off, it that is at all possible, would be very helpful, as it does not currently appear to meet certain accessibility guidelines.

Thank you.
