[Evergreen-web-team] Community IRC Meeting today

Here's my part - I trimmed June's original points list - don't think I lost
the content in the process:

Based on suggestions put forth by June Rayner, the web team has adopted the
following approach to moving forward with the Evergreen website:

1. Technical / Platform changes. Based on the recommendations that

we have put forth, what resources are required to do this? Team to
investigate various software tools, like IdeaTorrent.

2. Ongoing maintenance. Have individuals if they can "adopt a page"

for ongoing maintenance, with the overall plan and guidelines in mind. Look
for additional volunteers on the lists.

3. New Content. If we've identified new content that we want to

add to the site, have a "content wanted" page and ask people if they have
existing

content that could be adapted or if they would work on creating the

new content.

4. Major site overhauls. Possibly use an Evergreen website hackfest at
the next Evergreen conference to accomplish this.

I've composed this for the lead off on this

Anoop has compiled and posted a list of To-Do recommendations that came out
from a sub-group of the webteam focused on ongoing Evergreen website
maintenance. Anoop did a lot of the work and has completed items listed at
the bottom of this list. But there's still lots of opportunities to
participate. Please take a look at
http://evergreen-ils.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=webteam:website_recommendation
s. Thanks Anoop!

Sounds good. June, maybe you should take the lead on the Anoop work. I
think it is important to make sure they understand where that To Do list
came from so people understand it arose from the work we've done this past
year.

I can report on the IdeaTorrent thing if you like.

And Amy, could you report on the June email and what that means for next
steps.

FYI, I've been talking with Jim about how to proceed with setting up
Communication guidelines and he's going to put up some "communication
scenarios" based on our user roles so we can figure out what kind of info we
need to provide about protocols that already exist and where there is an
absence of protocols. Once we identify those, we can work through them as a
committee (Communications Committee) and get those up on the web somewhere
(for comment perhaps first).

We also need to move forward on recommendations for any policies that belong
on the site anywhere. I'm also working on that with Jim so should have
something to talk about with the group soon-ish. Again, Comms Committee
stuff.

I'm also wondering if it would be useful to write up a report about what
we've done this past year and where we are. It would be useful for grant
purposes and I think it might be useful to have a comprehensive doc that
people could grab and read.

Any feedback to some or all of the above is welcome!

Lori

I think the key points to share at this time are Anoop's ToDo list and the
IdeaTorrent - maybe share those URLs. Do you agree?

Hi Gang,

Can someone report for the Web Team at the Community IRC meeting today?
