[OPEN-ILS-DEV] Discussion on bulk loan procedures/options/suggestions to outreach "patrons"

A bug was entered fairly recently on BugZilla! (bug 391,
http://www.open-ils.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=391 ).  In
summary, this relates to lending items to an organization in bulk
(500-700 at a time).  In this case, it's a learning center.

The volume of the records attached to the patron causes the system to
hang when the patron record is accessed.  The library is looking for a
way to track these items as being on-loan to the organization, but
would still like the credit for the circulations and renewals to this
patron.

One suggestion is to create a branch for the outreach location, and
bulk-reassign the items to that branch.  The concern is that they
wouldn't get the circulation if it were done this way.

Do you have any ideas as to how this could be accomplished?  If so,
please post them to the list.
