Hello Ed,

Under the successful installations I have done and encountered, it is simpler and more reliable if no services are bound to 'localhost.'  In addition to following Don's suggestions, you may want to simply search through the config files for any mention of 'localhost' and try substituting your full hostname instead.

Also, as Don suggested, sending config/log files is always welcome.
