This might very well be it -- libdbdpgsql.so isn't linked against libdbi.so,
and recompiling libdbi-drivers with an explicit ./configure
--with-dbi-libdir *still* doesn't result in the compiled
drivers/pgsql/.libs/libdbdpgsql.so linking against libdbi.so.  So something
fresh and exciting and new for me to beat my head against.  Thanks for your
help -- I'll continue to plug away.
