[OPEN-ILS-DEV] Open-ILS && SuSE-Linux (or FreeBSD)

I think it would be accurate to say that Debian (and Debian-based
distros such as Ubuntu) is the most popular base. A likely reason for
this is that the GPLS PINES program runs their Evergreen instance on
Debian.
I would then say that Gentoo is the second most popular base. I believe
that was the distro used early on in Evergreen development (IE:
Evergreen Alpha), and Dan Scott has done quite a bit of work towards it
(the Virtual Machine he created is based on Gentoo IIRC).
I assume you saw this
(http://open-ils.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=server_installation) page, and
the link from it to this
(http://open-ils.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=generic_installation_information)
page? This should "get you started". As you run into trouble, feel free
to drop the list a line and/or stop in to the IRC channel
(#OpenILS-Evergreen on FreeNode).
Hope this helps!
