[OPEN-ILS-DEV] Circulation Menu in the Staff Client

Hi - just read the digest and thought I'd chime in - I kinda like more than
one access point when it makes sense, not everyone thinks the same way.
Having said that though - I agree that searching for a patron by barcode is
a circ function, but I also agree that it isn't really needed on the circ
menu because if you have barcode you're probably going to be checking out
books and you would indeed just use the check out function - as William R
pointed out.
Another argument for removing the retrieve patron by barcode function is
that it is right above the "replace barcode function" .... we are a couple
of weeks from going live and starting to worry about newbies accidently
replacing barcodes .... I know there are a few steps and they should be able
to stop before the complete the action but accidents happen.
Bottom line? I'd be ok with losing "search for a patron by barcode" from
the circ menu.
Echo David's congratulations Laura - glad you're even more officially on the
team!

Afoot and light-hearted I take to the open road,
Healthy, free, the world before me,
The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose.

Henceforth I ask not good-fortune, I myself am good-fortune,
Henceforth I whimper no more, postpone no more, need nothing,
Done with indoor complaints, libraries, querulous criticisms,
Strong and content I travel the open road.
