Hi all,

My name is Dale and I am setting up a library for a community center here in Buffalo, NY in a high-needs area.

I am having difficulty installing OpenSRF and getting the system to establish a connection to ejabber. It fails when starting the OpenSRF Perl module loads with the following error:

Use of uninitialized value $@ in concatenation (.) or string at /usr/local/share/perl/5.10.1.OpenSRF/Transport/SlimJabber/Client.pm line 152

     Exception: OpenSRF::EX:Jabber 2011-02-06T11:52:05 OpenSRF::Transport::SlimJabber::Client

     /usr/local/share/perl/5.10.1/OpenSRF/Transport/SlimJabber/Client.pm:152

Exception: Could not authenticate with Jabber sevrer:

Here is what I have done:
1) I have gone through the online logs (and intensively google searched) and have made sure to make the registered ejabber users' (router and opensrf) passwords match exactly to the ejabberd.cfg

2) I have stopped all services, killed all OpenSRF processes, removed all .pid files, and restarted

3) I have manually installed the CPAN Bundle::OpenSRF module

4) Only the Perl module fails (C and Router modules start)

5) Clean installs (multiple times...now it's turning into insanity <insert Einstein quote here>)

My system:
  Debian Squeeze server
  Linux Kernel2.6.32-5-686
  OpenSRF 1.6.2
  Evergreen (not installed yet)
  4 GB ram (DDR2)
Processor: AMD Athlon II X4 630
2x 500 GB SATA disk drives

If someone is willing to help, I can email logs and cfg files.

I am willing to post my email address, if requested.

Dale
