Dear Ich,
Attached is a PowerPoint that describes the LC ILS. There are several resources to learn about the MARC formats. The bibliographic format itself is available here: http://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/ecbdhome.html
You may also wish to sign up for this class: MARC for Non Catalogers. I have pasted the course description and objectives below:
Course Description This IDTD course is designed to introduce the MARC format to staff who do not perform cataloging but would benefit from a greater understanding of the basic concepts of the MARC format for bibliographic data (e.g., through improved ILS searching skills).
Learning Objectives At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
* Describe the background and purpose of MARC
* Explain the major parts of the bibliographic record: leader, fixed fields, and variable fields
* Recognize the major tag groups (1XX, 2XX, 6XX, etc.)
* Utilize the MARC tags in relation to LC ILS indexes
* Utilize the MARC elements in relation to ILS search limits
* Interpret MARC information in ILS records
* Explain some key concepts related to MARC authority and holdings formats
You can enroll in the class via the Online Learning Center at: https://olc.loc.gov/stc/olc/psciis.dll?linkid=290773&mainmenu=OLC&top_frame=1

Dear Ann,
Do you have any LC ILS System Document that I can have to read and understand our ILS Voyager System?
I also need to learn more about the MARC record - if some one could teaches/shows me how.
Thanks a lot for your help. id, 75876.
