[OPEN-ILS-DEV] troubleshooting opensrf shell no response from server

Hi devs,

trying to get up and running on a test deployment, possibly using this for
a few hundred volume church library. made it through instructions at
http://open-ils.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=opensrf:2.0:install with no
trouble.

in the verification phase of the opensrf install, ejabberd and memcached
restarted just fine and the opensrf services launched.

however, when i tried to connect via srfsh, the response to the sample math
add 2+2 command was "Received no data from server"

I am on a rackspace cloud server with 256mb ram on ubuntu 11.10.

config and log files attached; my regular user account is 'pnguyen' and the
user-specific files are named as such. passwords substituted with 'hidden'
in the attached files.

Any ideas? old posts on the list didn't shed any light on the subject...
