Icinga is a fork, you will likely not notice a difference unless you dig around in the guts or try to build a distributed monitoring solution. I've used both but currently run with a home-grown solution.

Hello all,
Is it correct to assume that Nagios remains the most frequently used server monitoring plug-in, or is there any move in the works with some sites to use something new / other alternatives.
IIRC ESI's nagios plug-in remains the best option, correct?
