Ah, I see. Search Filter Groups is a user of part of the saved search
infrastructure, yes, but I didn't mean just that specifically. In any
case, new features won't be committed to anything but the master
branch, and since there's infrastructure that directly overlaps much
of your design in master (and, as you point out, 2.3) already, that
infrastructure should be leveraged. This is a practical matter --
maintaining two competing implementations where one would do is not
something the Evergreen community has the resources for, if it can be
avoided.
