[OPEN-ILS-DOCUMENTATION] Documentation issue or client set-up issue? Local Sys Admin permissions

Hi James from Sitka!

This isn't necessarily something James would need to verify/do, but I think it is related to this thread. One piece that I think is missing from the current documentation is a nice listing of all of the available permissions (perhaps even including those that aren't in the stock install and would needed to be added) and what they control. I know this was probably one of the things we struggled with the most during our initial set up - and we are still working out the kinks. There are lists of permissions, but none of them seem to be completely up to date. And in the client permission list, quite a few of the descriptions lack descriptive value...or are completely blank. Does anyone have the necessary expertise (and time) to tackle this?

Just my two cents...

Hi there, I'm James from Sitka. I wasn't on this list (I've joined now) but I was forwarded this thread from Tina

I can confirm that the group penalty threshold requires these permissions:

ADMIN_GROUP_PENALTY_THRESHOLD
VIEW_GROUP_PENALTY_THRESHOLD

They are not included in a stock 1.6 install and must be added to the permissions list and then assigned to user groups as needed, the superadmin account can access these things because they have the EVERYTHING permission. Those two permissions are added to the database in a stock Evergreen 2.0 install.

Is there anything else I can verify that would help?

I can forward this email to him, but think it will benefit the community if he just replies to the dev list. And maybe you will have surprises from other parties on the dev list.

>>
>> The documentation (I'm assuming SITKA-contributed, because it mirrors what is available on SITKA's site) mentions that Local System Administrators should be able to edit/create Group Penalty Thresholds for their organizations (http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/1.6/draft/html/lsa-group-penalty.html). In my experience, the only login that is able to edit these is the "superadmin" or System Account Administrator. When I attempt to create another admin user and give this user "Local System Administrator" permissions, he/she is unable to select a "Context Location" from the dropdown menu and, therefore, unable to create any Group Penalty Thresholds.
>>
>> When I first encountered this issue, I was using a slightly customized set of permissions and figured that might be the issue. However, I am now testing it using a fresh install with the default set of permissions and am still unable to perform certain administrative functions using anything by the super-administrator login (which we would like to NOT give out to our local library administrators).
>>
>> I have similar issues with other administrative functions, but this is a good example of the problem. What do we not have set correctly? Or is there an error in the documentation?
>>
>> Thanks for any insight - especially from the SITKA folks!
