[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Shared Integrated Library System Cost Study

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction undertook a study to  
determine the cost of the ILSs uses by the public libraries within  
the state.  Their report is available on the web.

I draw your attention, in particular, to section 7.1: "Costs Related  
to Operating a Shared ILS".

PINES is clearly atypical, but I find it heartening to learn that   
Indianhead Federated Library System, which serves 440K people, and  
runs Innovative, spends $187k on direct personnel costs (two or three  
FTE?) and $66K on software costs annually. (See section 4.1 for  
details about the systems profiled.)
