HI David:

I had the same exact issue.  When I made a new ID, it changed the MAC
address of the Virtual PC, thus causing it to be non-functional (the
NIC would now be eth1).  To resolve this, you have a couple choices:
1) Don't change the machine ID (this is in the readme)
2) Configure udev to change NIC assignments
3) Disable eth0 and enable eth1 (`mv /etc/init.d/net.eth0
/etc/init.d/net.eth1`).
