Hello all!
I am the IT Director of the Nelson Memorial Library in Grafton, MA. After
having the responsibility to operate the building moved from the town to a
group of trustees, I have been looking at library automation systems - open
source system, specifically.
The planned setup was to run the server in a VMWare environment and then
have the staff client accessible via 'checkout' computer. Also, public
computers would be able to search the catalog via the OPAC system.
My questions:
a) Currently, the library volunteers have been cataloging donated books in a
program named 'BookDB' Does anyone on the list have any experience
importing books from BookDB to Evergreen?
b) If the answer to a is no or not possible, is there an importing interface
where I can write a script to convert the BookDB output to a format that
Evergreen will accept.
c) Our last-ditch plan is to re-catalog them anew, but I can't find where we
can add books to the database. Granted, I haven't looked around the server,
but I am looking for a point in the right direction.
Thank you
