I typed the whole url in the browser in windows as per the one on the
server and it went in, it prompted for a username and password and also
asked for password change, after changing I retried the client and it
went in this time around

Hey DBS how are you small world indeed, I though I should try other
support options because it seemed everyone is only around when it is my
time to leave, regardless thank you again for responding
To get back at what you were asking in you email below, No. 2 is correct
I restarted the machine without stopping the services first, no I know I
must first switch off the services before stopping and also no
configuration during installation
So how it went after following your suggestions below, it went good,
1. I stopped the services and they told me they not running
2. I checked the SettingClient.pm file and the fixes were still inplace
3. I started the services using the command you gave me to use and
everything started nicely no issues
4. I went on to the autogen -u command and surprisingly it started with
no issues
5. I compressed the log files (see attached)
6. I ran the srfsh command and did the login command and did a math add
2 2 thing and it worked like a bomb
7. I exit the srfsh prompt
8. Opened my evergreen client on my windows xp host
9. typed my server name and clicked re-test and said status & version
200: OK
10. typed the default admin username and open-ils password and popped up
the below error

The other strange thing I just noticed is when typing my url to the
online catalog it only shows me folders, the page I used to see is not
there, see attached
Another thing you said my log file looks a bit dodgy for a startup
script, I must confess yesterday when trying to start the services they
told me they are already running so I moved on to the next command

Your initial message might have been held up for a little while by the

Right... well actually what I said on IRC was that the system assumes
that
en-US is installed and available, so when you deleted en-US from the
database list of languages you exposed that fundamental assumption. My
suggestion in the future would be to start by getting the default system
working out of the box, and then slowly start to make configuration
changes one by one, rather than making configuration changes before
you've even started the system for the first time.

there was one other thing that we did - I had you edit
/usr/local/share/perl/5.10.1/OpenSRF/Utils/SettingsClient.pm to change
lines 84 and 90 from "timeout => 10" to "timeout => 120" to address the
mysterious routing issue that some people seem to run into. Then I had
you restart the OpenSRF services and try "autogen.sh -u" one more time
(this time with luck).

Did you by any chance:
1) Reinstall OpenSRF and wipe out the changes to SettingsClient.pm or
2) Shut down the server without first stopping the OpenSRF services?
If 1, then you need to restore the longer timeout sessions to
SettingsClient.pm and restart the OpenSRF services.
If 2, then you need to remove the PID files that OpenSRF uses to track
its processes and then start it up again. Use the "ps" command to ensure
that no OpenSRF processes are running, then "rm -f
/openils/var/run/*pid" to clean out the PID files, then start the
OpenSRF
services again.
Also, is that your complete osrfsys.log? It seems like it's missing a
lot of content that I would expect from a normal startup process.
