Here at Beaufort we use the Dymo printers and have no problem with fading at all. One point to note though is that if any printed label is stored in direct sunlight for too long it will fade no matter what.

First of all, I want to thank everyone who responded to my original question regarding spine label printers and the Evergreen system.  Your responses were helpful and much appreciated.

 

It seems as if the Dymo TurboWriter 400 was the most recommended printer.

 

The vendor we use for printers claims that the Dymo wouldn’t be a good choice because the printing will fade over time, especially if the books are left in a car in the hot sun.

 

He recommends instead the TSC TTP 245, a thermal transfer printer.  It’s over $200 more than the Dymo and I’m wondering if it would be worth the extra cost for the library to go this route.  (They’re a small library with limited resources.)

 

Has anyone out there used the TSC TTP 245?
