[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Resolved! Was: Logging in via the staff client for the first time

Please forgive my not quoting from previous messages: my e-mail is strange, and the quote thing doesn't work properly.  I'll just have to sum up.

My husband has FIXED my problem, which was that a 404 error was generated when I tried to log in to the freshly installed server for version 1.4.0.7 of Evergreen via the freshly installed staff client, using the wonderful advice given on this list.

He first tried Mr. Scott's solutions (restarting Apache and checking for memory problems), but neither of them worked.  The log files created by using Mr. Etheridge's advice to follow the directions in http://evergreen-ils.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=troubleshooting:checking_for_errors , however, allowed him to pinpoint the issue the login was having.  For some reason, the ./conf/opensrf_core.xml file was missing the service section, and in particular the line:        
                    <service>open-ils.auth</service>
As a result, a cascading 404 error was created.

Thank you so much for your help, gentlemen!

Now I get to actually use the program!  (So, I guess you can expect to see me back here fairly soon, asking for yet more help...)
