Development Requested:  NCIP responder development for MeLCat 
interoperability

Introduction
We are requesting a quote to do the necessary software programming to make 
the Michigan Evergreen Open Source Integrated Library System (ILS) 
software NCIP-interoperable with MeLCat, which runs on the Innovative 
Interfaces Inc., INN-Reach software.  See

for specifications.

Please email your price quote to Debbi Schaubman at schaubmd at mcls.org by 
December 31, 2010.  The Midwest Collaborative for Library Services 
reserves the right to select the vendor it deems most suitable, which may 
or may not be the low bidder.

Background Information
The Michigan Evergreen Project is a shared catalog using the Evergreen 
Open-Source Integrated Library System (ILS) software, facilitated by the 
Midwest Collaborative for Library Services (MCLS) and housed on servers at 
the Grand Rapids Public Library (GRPL).
The MeLCat Statewide Catalog is a centralized union catalog with 
up-to-date holdings from all participating libraries. Library 
participation is voluntary, and holdings are updated frequently.
Goals for NCIP Development
1.      Make the Michigan Evergreen open-source integrated library system 
(ILS) software interoperable via NCIP with MeLCat
2.      Eliminate the requirements for MeLCat dual check out and dual 
check in for Evergreen libraries, cutting circulation library staff time 
in half for MeLCat processing.
3.      Eliminate the need for libraries to export patron data to the 
MeLCat DCB server.
