A "Delete Patron" function isn't built into Evergreen 1.6. However, a
"Delete Patron" function will be available in Evergreen 2.0. If I
recall correctly, the reason we haven't provided a real deletion
function in the past is because it makes it impossible to check
circulation history, fines and billing, etc, in case a dispute ever
arises after the account has been deleted. Most of the reasons that
you would want to delete a patron in 1.6 are handled by two other
functions, instead:

  * If you want to mark a patron as no longer being eligible to borrow
items, you can edit the patron's record to set them inactive. Inactive
patrons won't show up in searches for patrons unless you check the
"Include inactive patron?" box at the top of the "Search Patron"
dialogue.

  * If you have two patron records for the same patron, and you want
to get rid of one of the accounts, you can use the "Merge patron"
function. Use the "Search Patron" dialogue to retrieve both records,
then hold down the CTRL key, click the accounts that you want to merge
together, then click the "Merge Patrons" button on the top right of
the Search Patron dialogue.
