[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Seperate Servers for OPAC and ILS?

>What are you trying to accomplish by having these services separated?  Load concerns or worried about performance hits between sharing of OPAC/staff client functions?

The reason I asked is we are currently running a split install for SirsiDynix Unicorn the OPAC and ILS software split. We decided to do this after our OPAC was hit by Google Spiders a couple of years ago. It seems like this is possible to do.
