We dont currently use spine label printing, but isn't it just sending HTML-like formatted text to a printer (like the receipts do when not printing in "dos mode")?
I seem to remember printing the output to a TSP100 (thermal receipt printer) and possibly a Star SP512 back when we were testing EG 1.6.0 and it looked like you would expect formatted text to (but that was a few years back).
