If you're only using 440$a$v for series info in your MARC, you could
do something along the lines of:

BEGIN;
UPDATE config.metabib_field
  SET xpath = '//*[@tag="440"]', format = 'marcxml', facet_xpath =
'//*[@code="a"]'
  WHERE id = 1;
UPDATE metabib.facet_entry SET value = regexp_replace(value,
$$\s*;.*$$, '') WHERE field = 1;
COMMIT;

That's all untested, and mainly from memory, so, no warranty expressed
or implied!
