Hi Jill,

To add to Lori's response, the demos that I set up use data generously shared by Evergreen Indiana . There is also another set of test data called "concerto" that is available in the Evergreen code repository ( Open-ILS/tests/datasets/ concerto .sql ) which I have not tested yet.

The amount of staff time/energy depends on how techno-proficient your staff is on the Linux command line, and coping with installs where variations in your local installation of the operating system might differ from a 'typical' environment.

Jill,

Some of the existing community demo servers have a set of data that you can use. In the case of the ones maintained by Brian Feifarek, that data is refreshed 2x per week (I think). However, we have set up instances specifically for libraries to use on occasion. That way you can either use the demo data we have or your own data and it won't all get wiped out each week.

Let me know if that would be of interest. The demos are set up on the Amazon cloud so it is fairly easy to create one for you.

Can someone tell me how a demo is typically populated with data? Do most libraries pull some of their own records, or is it more common to use "dummy" records?
