MassLNC Performance Evaluation
by Kathy Lussier

The Massachusetts Library Network Cooperative (MassLNC) is pleased to
announce that OmniTI http://omniti.com/ has been awarded a contract to
conduct a performance evaluation of the Evergreen Integrated Library System.

MassLNC issued an RFP for the evaluation last spring and selected OmniTI
after a review of the seven proposals that were received. Assisting with the
proposal review were Rogan Hamby (SC LENDS), Sharon Herbert , along with her
great technical staff at SITKA, Dan Pearl (C/W MARS), Jason Stephenson
(MVLC), Martha Driscoll (NOBLE), and Tim Spindler (C/W MARS).

MassLNC has been busy getting a test server set up for the evaluation (thank
you to Thomas Berezansky for his work on this). Once the server is ready,
the evaluation will begin in earnest. More details about next steps can be
found at http://markmail.org/message/6yzorevfs6xtnn2u.

The timeline for the evaluation is 2 ½ months from when the server becomes
available.

MassLNC’s hope is that this evaluation will lead to improvements that will
benefit the entire community. Please feel free to send any questions or
feedback our way!

This project is funded through a Library Services and Technology Act grant,
administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Kathy can be reached at klussier at masslnc.org.

Evergreen 2014 International Conference – “Together We Grow”
by Amy Terlaga

Mark your calendars, everyone! The 2014 Evergreen International Conference
is being held in Cambridge, MA at the Boston Marriott Cambridge in Kendall
Square. The dates are Wednesday, March 19th through Saturday, March 22nd.
We are still getting in survey results
(https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/7LXW35V) to determine what the preferred
conference schedule and after-hours activities will be. The local
arrangements crew did some preliminary investigations of the local area and
they’re pleased to report plenty of eating and drinking opportunities in the
Kendall Square area and beyond:

Here are some library system updates from our Evergreen family:

NC Cardinal
by Tanya Prokrym

NC Cardinal is a consortium of public libraries within North Carolina using
Evergreen. NC Cardinal will be migrating its 93rd library branch this year,
with the latest library systems being Albemarle Regional (Northampton,
Hertford, Bertie, and Gates Counties), Forsyth, Cumberland, and
Beaufort-Hyde-Martin Counties. The consortium includes 26 counties and 2
municipalities, approximately 23% of library branches within North Carolina.
It serves roughly 9.7 million North Carolinians. NC Cardinal currently
includes over 4.2 million library items with approximately 6.6 million
circulations to date. Operating since July 2010, the NC Cardinal program
began as a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funded project that is
now in its third year.

There is a waiting list to join the consortium.

The Missouri Evergreen consortium now has eleven libraries live on the
system and 19 libraries officially part of the consortium. Since February,
Howard County Public and Little Dixie Regional Libraries have gone live,
with Carthage Public and Webb City Public Libraries coming up next. The
consortium now contains 652,024 items and 112,594 users. MOBIUS, a
nonprofit library consortium based in Columbia, MO, is hosting and managing
Missouri Evergreen with LSTA funds from the Missouri State Library, a
division of the Office of the Secretary of State.

The Ethel Walker School, Simsbury CT
Amy Terlaga

The Bibliomation consortium in Connecticut is providing Evergreen migration
support for the Ethel Walker School, a boarding and day school for girls in
grades six through twelve. The Constance Lavino Bell Library, with 30,000
books and periodicals, will be up on Evergreen by this September 10th.

COOL Consortium
Tony Bandy

On May 15, two more libraries were officially welcomed into the Consortium
of Ohio Libraries (COOL). J.R. Clarke Public Library
<http://www.jrclarkelibrary.org> in Covington and Marvin Memorial Public
Library <http://www.shelbymm.lib.oh.us> in Shelby were voted in as the
newest members to the consortium. J.R. Clarke plans to migrate to the
COOL-CAT later this summer, and Marvin Memorial is planning to migrate in
the fall. They will be the tenth and eleventh libraries in consortium.
