Hi Katie -

Outside my work at the library I manage multiple websites that accept online payments. I offer both Paypal and Stripe, even though they both charge 2.9% plus a flat rate based on currency (it’s 30 cents per transaction for US dollar). Sometimes someone pays using their Paypal account money instead of a credit card and then there’s no transaction fee! Woohoo!

Whatever you choose, it’s probably worth the extra effort to get set up as a charitable organization. Then the transaction fee drops to 2.2% plus the fixed fee, which really adds up to some savings over time.

Subject: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] credit card payments in the OPAC

Hello! I have a library that wants to start taking fine payments via the OPAC. Currently, all the libraries I have chatted with are using PayFlow Pro+Paypal for this.

So, I am wondering if anyone else is using another provider (Paypal only, Stripe, Authorize.net<https://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a%2f%2fAuthorize.net&c=E,1,CiBZXLHpRrgxM7k7GDOhnsdu413X18QepGNYaFvTzepeuRhyFpvdc6LEmleYmRG_0lBfyGzjtLwpGFHcNg8JnoameukT1eUwAxPPIO0Uk8fOC8GNEo4rLw,,&typo=1>) -- and if so:
1. Are you happy with your setup?
2. What costs do you pay per transaction and per month?
3. Do you also use this method of taking payments for in-library credit card transactions and/or donations via your website?

thanks!
Katie
