Permissions Working Group Meeting - Today at 3 p.m. EST

Good Morning, The permissions working group meets this afternoon at 3 p.m. EST. We'll be continuing the cataloging permissions discussion, with a focus on the overlap between circulation and cataloging tasks. Please feel free to email me about any other topics you'd like to discuss, or add them directly to the agenda: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fBFvcZOykA4z9OqUaGtAlvjvN7sO5-iELyY5Sa2W... Thank you! Susan

We're having issues with Bibliotheca and Evergreen. We figured out that part of the issue is that it was being directed to the replicated database server that houses a static copy of the database that we use for reports, notifications, etc. however, we're still having issues. The kiosks are receiving data from Evergreen- holds, patron information, etc but it will not check out the item. What permissions do you use for Self-checkout machines and is it different than the Basic Circulation permissions? Does anyone here use Bibliotheca Self Checkout kiosks and would they be willing to share detailed Evergreen configuration details? Thank you! -Jon On Tue, Apr 22, 2025 at 4:50 AM Susan Morrison < smorrison@georgialibraries.org> wrote:

Hi Jon, I can't speak to the configuration details, but here are the permissions we have for our Self-Check profile. Compared to our most basic circ profile, this is pared down quite a bit. COPY_CHECKIN COPY_CHECKOUT CREATE_PAYMENT CREATE_PRECAT OPAC_LOGIN PERSISTENT_LOGIN RENEW_CIRC STAFF_LOGIN VIEW_CIRCULATIONS VIEW_COPY_CHECKOUT_HISTORY VIEW_HOLD VIEW_HOLD_PULL_LIST VIEW_ORG_UNIT_SETTING.sms VIEW_PERMIT_CHECKOUT VIEW_USER VIEW_USER_FINES_SUMMARY VIEW_USER_TRANSACTIONS Hope that helps. We're using accounts that are part of the SIP permission group. It's not part of Staff because then it would inherit additional permissions. -Jon On Mon, Apr 28, 2025 at 7:59 AM Ruth Frasur <rfrasur@gmail.com> wrote:

Jon, I was only asking to make sure that the SIP account that's being used is configured properly to enable writing to the DB for things like checking out, etc. *Ruth Frasur Davis, Coordinator* *Evergreen Collaborative Development Initiative* https://evergreencdi.org (765) 580-1137 On Mon, Apr 28, 2025 at 3:29 PM JonGeorg SageLibrary via Evergreen-catalogers <evergreen-catalogers@list.evergreen-ils.org> wrote:

I appreciate that. Sorry if my tone didn’t convey that. That certainly wasn’t my intent. I’m frustrated because I still can’t figure out what the issue is. All the settings appear correct. Our other vendors aren’t having any issues. SIP user permissions match what was sent earlier in the thread. They can see patron info they just can’t check anything out. We made sure they’re using location id and institution name as defined in oils_sip. We had a configuration issue where it was being pointed to the replicated database but we fixed that as it was throwing read only errors. Our support vendor did have to rebuild the vm that runs SIP during the upgrade. I pulled the logs from our work session with Bibliotheca on Friday and the sessions are ending with a status 0 signal 14 after sending an ‘end patron session’. It all looks fine as far as I can see but I also don’t know what the Bibliotheca codes are supposed to be or how that is determined in Evergreen. I’m not sure what else to check at this point. -Jon On Tue, Apr 29, 2025 at 7:47 AM Ruth Davis via Evergreen-general < evergreen-general@list.evergreen-ils.org> wrote:

No need to apologize for anything. I didn't read any "tone" at all. Just trying to make sure that EYE was communicating my thoughts adequately. I can imagine the frustration and wish I had more expertise to point you in a new direction to find the issue.
