[Eg-oversight-board] North Carolina and the LGBT Community

I am so torn about this -- on one hand it is a political cause that I
deeply and personally support, and the passing of HB2 was very
distressing to me; however, I am not sure if it is appropriate of us as
the Board to spearhead something of a political nature where money is
involved. As Yamil pointed out, there may also be an issue due to our
nonprofit status. I too would be more comfortable if individuals led
this rather than the EOB.
Perhaps a statement from the Board to the effect of "in light of HB2, we
wish to reiterate that the Community and Conference are welcoming to all
regardless of race/religion/gender/sexual orientation/trans*
status/etc." that we can put out on the lists and the website.
As an individual I'm happy to donate to a collection for a local PFLAG
or other advocacy group.
Agreed on contacting Tony and talking to the hotel.
