[Evergreen-acq] D direct charges

In reference to adding processing fees to each line on the EDI invoices:  I never thought of doing it that way. You could ask your book vendor whether they can do that.

We just create a separate fund for processing fees and estimate how much we think we'll need for the year. That protects the money so it won’t get spent on anything else. Then on the EDI invoice, we select that fund to pay the charges. We keep an eye on the fund’s balance in case we’ve underestimated and need more money near the end of the year. This has worked pretty well for us, but encumbering those fees as direct charges on the PO would be a better way to do it (if it worked as it should).

Speaking of direct charges, I have a library wanting their EDI invoices to come in with the processing fees added to each line instead of a lump sum at the bottom of the invoice. That's not possible, is it?

I wanted to check with other acq sites before telling him that, in case there's someone doing just that.
