[Evergreen-acq] Consortial support-acq logins

Because the libraries that I’ve needed to support had funds associated with different branches that might show up in the same PO, this is my best practice. I know when we were first getting our largest acq library set up, we had to make sure their acq admins had system permissions (which would include all branches in the user permission editor <- comment added for anyone reading who doesn’t know this yet (not Tiffany)). It would be AMAZING to be able to select a system for those who work across all branches…or some other scoped sets like consortium or library groups).

I've always done all of the branch locations too, but I couldn't remember if that was actually best/needed practice or just my own paranoia.

My experience (which is very limited) is that selecting all of the branch locations for a system is best practice. Even so, setting and resetting working locations sounds a little onerous. It might be worth thinking about what would be a preferred mechanism for consortial support of acq and possibly other working location specific tasks.

Tiffany,

When you say “working location” are you referring to the permission or workstation setting?

Good morning,

We're working on a cleanup project in PINES for phasing out generic accounts, which has led to me wondering if there's a better way for consortial staff to support acq other than having a login for each acquisitions library.

I have my own account at each participating library/system because with just one account I see everything for everyone. Has anyone found a better way than this? Would just changing the working locations each time work? Would I have to set a working location for each branch/location, or would it work to just set one? (I suppose I could test this myself, but I just now thought of it so I'll leave the question out there.)

Thanks all!
Tiffany
