[Evergreen-catalogers] Record match set question

Hi Libby,

I think it's pretty straightforward, unless I missed something myself. I
gave it a name and a label and entered 001 in the MARC tag field.

Does anyone else on this list have anything to add?

Mary

Hi Mary,

Thanks for the information. It is not in MARC Record Attributes. I will pass
this on to our Admin. Is there anything special they need to know about
setting this up?

We have trouble with using the OCLC record attribute as a match point,
though I do see it as choice in setting up the Record Match Set. I'm told
we'll need to re-ingest our database for our older records to be included
with that OCLC number matchpoint. That's on our to-do list.

I'm not sure why you don't see it as a choice for the Record Match Set. Have
you looked at Admin/Server Administration/MARC Record Attributes to verify
it is still there?

We are testing Vandelay features in 2.2 now and I would like to know if
anyone has successfully used the 001 field as a match point for overlays and
could share their experience. During testing last year I thought OCLC Number
(aka 001) had been set up set up as Record Attribute but I don't see it in
the drop-down menu.

Thank you,

Hi Libby,

Well, darn. I am trying to match against older records.

Thanks so much. I can stop beating my head against the wall now.

Hi Mary,

I haven't been able to test myself this since last summer, but I save this
thread from an exchange between Kathy Lussier and Bill E about setting up
the 001.

Bill said: "Note, though, without re-indexing existing records, the
attribute will only work for incoming records or records added/edited after
I created the configuration."

Subject: [Evergreen-catalogers] Record match set question

Hi all,

I've been working with the record match set, and want to use tag 001 as a
match point. Because there's no subfield in that tag, I followed advice and
set up a Record Attribute Definition for that tag, to use that attribute in
the record match set. But I think I've missed something, because the loader
isn't using the tag as a match point.

For the Record Atttribute Definition, I entered the MARC Tag value as 001. I
left the MARC subfield field blank. I've also tried it with a % hoping it
would act as a wild card. But in any load I do that would only match on tag
001, the match fails.

What have I missed?

Thanks,

Mary
