Chris, Elaine, Sarah and All
At least for us (we are on 2.6.1), the subfield "t" problem is more
widespread than just the 700 field. It is also a problem for any 7xx $t and
8xx $t
The 810 $t series index is an acute problem for us. We have thousands of
series entries that deal specifically with titles that our institution has
produced that are not indexed correctly either in general keyword, series
keyword or series browse. Example:
810 20 $a Asbury Theological Seminary. $t Freitas lectures
810 20 $a Asbury Theological Seminary. $t Martha R. Jones lectureship in
nutrition, 1973
810 20 $a Asbury Theological Seminary. $t Ministers Conference, 1963
The impact to our patrons is minimized because we use Ebsco Discover as our
user catalog, but it is very bad for the staff.
This issue of subfields not indexed is related to one that I have outlined
concerning browse indexes in Bug #1371745 "Corporate body subject phrase
does not displaying in Subject Browse index"
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1371745 It has a current status
of Undecided - New.
I believe that there are a large number of subfields that need to be
include in the browse indexes that currently are not. This thread of posts
demonstrates that there are also missing subfields in the keyword indexes
as well.
Below is an attempt to create of comprehensive list of subfields that need
to be included in in the Browse indexes taken from Bug 1371745, but they
should relate to Keyword indexes, as well.
