[Evergreen-catalogers] Creating/Editing/Deleting Bibliographic Templates

Slightly off topic:
1. I'd like to see an easier way to create templates then by doing it in XML and having to load them onto the server, and then having to edit the XML file and reload it to make a correction. I think how the templates are created (unless there's an easier way) may make it restrictive for some users to do this.
2. I'd like to see permissions that were granular so that permission could be given to edit 'system local' bib records but NOT edit those with other record sources such as 'oclc'.
I created multiple brief bib templates for our consortium as we previously had brief bib templates available system-wide. We have 15 now and can still use a few more. The templates are populated with fields that are usually the same for each format, i.e. the one for music CD has a 300 field with 1 sound disc : digital ; 4 /34 in. and DVD has 1 videodisc ( min.) : sd., col,. ; 4 3/4 in. and both have the appropriate 007 field.
Thanks to Lynn for mentioning the 049 field. We used to use a 598 field and still do so for Acquisitions' vendor records. I think I'll reinstitute that for brief records, just have to edit and reload all the files.

Related to this, I've got a couple questions:
- Would it be useful for it to be possible for (some? all?) individual cataloging users to create bibliographic record templates that are only associated with their account? Or do folks prefer that such templates always be associated with a library or other level in the org unit hierarchy?
- Would the ability to create templates for authority records be useful?
Regards,
Galen
