[Evergreen-catalogers] 006 field and multiple format icons for sets

Hello,

Our library consortium uses words in place of icons for item type in the catalogue. We can get all words to show beside the title (Book, DVD) but not Blu-ray.
Would anyone know how we can have that word show up?

Thank you,

Dana

Janet and Kate,

I recently made some changes to the configuration of our system under Marc Coded Value Maps - Opac Format icons to allow this to happen. It utilizes the RDA tag 336 subfield a. So, the book format icon will also display if there is a 336$atext and the audiobook cd icon will display if there is a 336$aspoken word. This allows the double icons to display regardless of whether the marc type is a or i since we see records come in both ways.

An example to view: http://catalog.sage.eou.edu/eg/opac/record/797329?locg=1

If you need more details let me know.

We've been curious about this and perhaps wanting to do this in Missouri Evergreen. Having both the CD and the Book icon especially would be helpful.

Hi,

I know it's possible to have two format icons for Blu-ray and DVD sets, and for DVD and CD sets. I think the latter is from the 007 fields although I don't remember the bib record where I did this so I'm not positive. Is it possible to have a book icon and a CD icon for book plus CD sets? How does Evergreen use the 006 field which contains the fixed field codes for the additional format?

Recently I've been correcting records for book+CD sets we imported from OCLC that have 006 fields but that field mistakenly had the 006 coded with 'q' for "form of item". Evergreen picked out that 'q' and our format icon was e-book, even though the 008 field had no code in the "form" box. Deleting the 'q' fixed the format. I think this is a bug, the icon should come from the records 008 field.

But, it made me think that if Evergreen can look at the 006 field, why can't the system use that for the additional format icon. Has anyone tried this?

Thanks,
Janet
