[Evergreen-catalogers] Vandelay stripping out ends of fields, odd diacritics

Hi Janet and Kate,
We use Connexion Client at our library, and I’ve only used Connexion Browser to update LHRs. We were having problems with the diacritics until we switched how we export. In the Client it’s under Export > Record Characteristics and we had to change the Character Set to UTF-8 Unicode. Once we did that the diacritics imported properly into Evergreen. I don’t know if you can change that in Connexion Browser or not, I tried logging in and looking but couldn’t find anything.

The whole ends of fields being missing is a whole other thing… I’ve never seen that before (thank goodness).

Sounds similar to my recent case. After loading a file I noticed some
records without title. The titles had Japanese characters in MARCEdit.
I recompiled the file with MARCEdit using encoding UTF8. It worked.
